Medical partnership in action: Regional Children’s Hospital in Kyiv Oblast collaborates with Leading Children’s Hospital in Copenhagen

under the patronage of the third summit of first ladies and gentlemen held in september, a unique project, the international medical partnership, was launched. 25 hospitals from different parts of ukraine signed memorandums of cooperation with the world’s leading clinics to learn from best practices and share their own. one of them is the kyiv regional children’s hospital. the hospital from boyarka (in kyiv oblast) has become a “sister” hospital to the largest children’s hospital in denmark, mary elizabeth’s hospital - rigshospitalet for children, teens and expecting families.

since 2015, the ministry of health and the world bank have been implementing three major healthcare projects: “improving health in the service of people”, “emergency response to covid-19 and vaccination in ukraine”, and “strengthening the health system and saving lives”. each of the three large-scale projects implemented by the ministry of health in ukraine received a favorable assessment of effectiveness and implementation during the world bank mission in vienna.

such flights have been taking place on a weekly basis since april 2022. the ministry of health, in cooperation with the european commission and partners, organizes medical evacuations for affected ukrainians for specialized treatment in european clinics. medical evacuation and further treatment abroad is free of charge for patients.
