Norway, France, the Netherlands and Lithuania accepted Ukrainian patients under the Medevac program
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine organized another round of medical evacuations of injured Ukrainians for treatment abroad as part of the Medevac program. The main countries that received patients were Norway, France, the Netherlands, and Lithuania.
The Medevac program, which is supported by the European Commission, WHO and European governments, allows Ukrainians to receive specialized treatment free of charge in leading clinics in Europe. During the full-scale war, more than 5,000 children and adults were evacuated, including those affected by shelling, patients with tumors, rare diseases, and the military.
Patients are referred to the program by their attending physician or family doctor based on criteria approved by the Ministry of Health. To do this, you need to fill out form No. 027/о “Extract from the medical record of an outpatient (inpatient) patient”. The military personnel additionally need a conclusion signed by a doctor or medical director of the hospital.
Currently, there are several routes of medical evacuation for treatment abroad, namely:
- through the regional health department;
- by submitting a personal application through the website of the Ministry of Health in the “Citizens” section;
- for military personnel — by applying for evacuation abroad through the command of the Medical Forces of Ukraine.
As a reminder, treatment abroad under the Medevac program is free of charge for Ukrainians — all costs are covered by the governments of partner countries. Patients are accepted by medical institutions in more than 30 countries, including Austria, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, Lithuania, France, and others.
