The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the framework agreements between Ukraine and France on cooperation in the reconstruction and modernization of hospitals and oncology diagnostic

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified framework agreements on official support for the project to establish modular hospitals in Ukraine and the project to modernize breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

It should be recalled that the governments of Ukraine and France signed two framework agreements to strengthen cooperation during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin.

“Today, the Parliament has ratified two important agreements that contribute to deepening the systemic dialogue and cooperation between Ukraine and France in the medical field. In particular, one of the agreements concerns the strengthening of Ukrainian medical infrastructure through the construction of modular hospitals. This will help ensure that our citizens have access to essential medical services in times of war. During more than 30 months of full-scale war, russia has damaged or destroyed more than 715 medical facilities across Ukraine, so maintaining the capacity of our medical system is very important. The second agreement concerns equipping hospitals with the latest mammography machines for breast cancer diagnosis. Early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. We are grateful to our French partners and friends for such a powerful and large-scale support of Ukraine in a very difficult time for us. This enables our healthcare system to withstand and continue to develop.”
Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine

The Framework agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic on official support for the project on the construction of modular hospitals aims to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian hospitals. The agreement provides financial support to the Government of Ukraine from the Government of the French Republic in the form of a soft loan of EUR 35 million.

The Framework agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic on official support for the project on modernization of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment provides for the provision of modern medical equipment for breast cancer diagnosis, such as mammography machines. The amount of funding for the project is over EUR 11.6 million.

The ratification of the agreements will create conditions for economic cooperation and interaction between the countries to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian hospitals, improve the quality of medical care and ensure access to medical care for patients in regions where there is a large scale of damage and/or destruction caused by russia.
