Minister Viktor Liashko: The volume of state-funded medical services will increase in 2024

on 21 december the government approved the procedure for implementing the medical guarantee program for 2024. despite the war and limited resources, the scope of guaranteed medical services for ukrainians has not been reduced. on the contrary, the medical guarantee program is being expanded. in 2024, almost uah 159 billion will be allocated for the program, which is uah 16 billion more than last year. this includes uah 5.2 billion for reimbursement of medicines. in 2024, the medical guarantee program will focus on restoring health and human potential.

A historic decision. The Parliament adopted the draft law No. 7457 on the use of cannabis-based drugs in medicine

the verkhovna rada of ukraine has adopted in the second reading the draft law no. 7457 “on regulation of the turnover of cannabis plants for medical, industrial, scientific and technical purposes”. 248 people’s deputies voted in favor. draft law no. 7457 was significantly revised for the second reading. after the first reading, almost 900 amendments were submitted, of which more than 100 were taken into account. this is another step towards improving the quality of healthcare services in ukraine for millions of people: cancer patients, people with multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, patients receiving palliative care, etc.

old equipment, such as refrigerators and freezers, has been replaced with modern cold rooms and refrigeration equipment that meets who standards. this allows us to ensure a full cycle of vaccination of the population, uninterrupted availability of drugs in the regions and bring immunization services closer to every ukrainian regardless of their location.

the third meeting of the ehealth development coordination office was held under the chairmanship of health minister viktor liashko. it was created to ensure effective interaction between partners and manage the development of ehealth. the event was organized with the support of the usaid’s health reform support project in partnership with the ministry of health of ukraine. this time, the topic of the meeting was the results of 2023 and planning for the next year.

a seminar “partnership for transformation: shaping the future of healthcare in ukraine” was held for medical institutions that are members of the international medical partnership program in ukraine, as well as those that will join it in the near future. the event was attended by first lady olena zelenska, minister of health viktor liashko, and who representative in ukraine dr. jarno habicht. the international medical partnership initiative was launched during the third first ladies and gentlemen summit in kyiv on 6 september 2023. it provides for direct cooperation between clinics in ukraine and foreign medical institutions.
