Children’s Memorial Health Institute (Warsaw, Poland) and St. Nicholas Hospital (Lviv, Ukraine)

A Memorandum of Understanding on international medical partnership was signed during the International Medical Partnership Conference in Kyiv on May 22, 2024, with the participation of the First Lady of Ukraine and the Minister of Health of Ukraine.

Key areas of cooperation:

Training and knowledge exchange:
Polish specialists are offering Ukrainian doctors opportunities to undergo internships and advanced training at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute. This initiative supports the implementation of modern standards in diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation within Ukraine.

Organ transplantation:
A core focus of the partnership is the development of transplant services in Ukraine. Medical professionals from Lviv are learning from Polish colleagues in performing complex organ transplants, improving both access and quality of care for Ukrainian children.

Treatment of complex pathologies:
The partnership brings together resources for the diagnosis and treatment of severe and rare pediatric conditions, enabling the application of best international practices in patient care.

Comprehensive rehabilitation:
The collaboration also encompasses the physical and psychological rehabilitation of children. St. Nicholas Hospital is working to implement modern rehabilitation techniques and plans to establish a Comprehensive Pediatric Rehabilitation Center to support children recovering from complex treatments or surgeries.

Scientific collaboration:
Both institutions are actively engaged in joint research—particularly in the areas of transplantation and rehabilitation. This scientific exchange contributes to more effective treatments and the adoption of innovative care approaches.

The partnership between the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw and St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv fosters the integration of Ukrainian healthcare into the broader European medical community. It not only enhances the quality of pediatric medical care but also strengthens key sectors such as transplantation, rehabilitation, and the training of medical professionals.
