Over 34 months of full-scale war in Ukraine, more than 950 medical facilities have been restored

The full-scale war unleashed by russia has been going on for more than two and a half years. During this time, russia has caused numerous damages and losses to the Ukrainian medical system, including healthcare facilities. Every day, the enemy deliberately attacks peaceful cities and terrorizes citizens. russia’s attacks on hospitals, clinics, outpatient clinics, maternity wards, etc. continue.

Despite the numerous burdens on the healthcare system and the destruction, the restoration of the medical infrastructure is a priority for the state. Thus, Ukrainians have access to quality medical care.

Thus, 963 medical facilities have been fully or partially restored in different oblasts of Ukraine. Of these, 593 facilities have been fully restored and another 370 have been partially restored. These are medical facilities in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that have suffered minor damage: broken windows, roofing, facade damage, etc. Most of the facilities have been restored in Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv oblasts.

The Ministry of Health and its partners will continue to work to restore Ukraine’s medical infrastructure so that quality medical care is available to Ukrainians and doctors can continue to work and provide medical services to all who need them.

During the full-scale war, the enemy damaged 1971 medical facilities and destroyed another 300 of them completely. Hospitals in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts suffered the greatest losses. It is currently impossible to obtain comprehensive information on the extent of destruction of medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories. In addition, since the beginning of the war, russia has damaged 233 ambulances, destroyed 273 and seized another 80 ambulances.

It should be recalled that a hospital in Chernihiv oblast that was heavily damaged by russians at the beginning of the war, is being restored.
