 The Ukrainian-French delegation toured the medical facility, which houses a rehabilitation unit where wounded soldiers are treated. Jean-Noël Barrot had the opportunity to talk to patients and multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, as well as visit physical rehabilitation rooms provided with modern and high-tech equipment.

Currently, Ukraine is actively developing a modern rehabilitation system based on the best practices of developed countries, evidence-based approaches, multidisciplinarity and patient-centeredness.

The concept of developing a rehabilitation system in the healthcare sector, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Health, is that rehabilitation departments with 30-60 beds should appear in every large (cluster and supercluster) hospital in the country. This will ensure equal access to rehabilitation care.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health expressed their gratitude to the Government of France for its steady support since the beginning of the full-scale war, which enables the Ukrainian healthcare system not only to provide quality and affordable services, but also to develop.

It should be recalled that during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin, Ukraine and France signed two framework agreements to strengthen cooperation. In particular, it is about strengthening the Ukrainian medical infrastructure through the construction of modular hospitals, which will provide patients with access to necessary medical services in times of war. The second agreement provides for equipping hospitals with the latest mammography machines for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Ukraine and France maintain close cooperation between healthcare institutions within the framework of an international medical partnership, which provides for:

  • working together to improve mental health;
  • development of human resources;
  • taking care of the mental health of healthcare workers.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, France has donated thousands of tons of medical supplies and products, as well as 23 ambulances, oxygen stations, and generators.
