Construction of an advanced medical and rehabilitation building continues in one of the medical institutions of Rivne region
One of Ukraine's medical institutions is building a new, modern spinal cord injury rehabilitation building from scratch.
Currently, the medical facility accepts patients with severe traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries for rehabilitation, where they receive comprehensive rehabilitation care following modern international standards, including psychological assistance, urodynamic testing and training in wheelchair use.
The construction includes a new building consisting of an admission and diagnostic and laboratory department, an intensive care unit, an inpatient department, an operating room with three operating rooms, and a rehabilitation center with 5 rooms. It will also include premises for staff and administration and a transition to the existing building.
The medical facility will also have a helicopter landing pad for rapid patient transportation.
The construction of the new building will expand and strengthen the capacity of the medical facility to 300 beds. It is planned that the medical facility will be able to receive up to 7,500 patients annually, and the reception department of the new medical and rehabilitation building will have a capacity of up to 150 patients per day.
The medical facility has already completed the “zero cycle” of construction, external engineering networks have been installed, frame and assembly work is at the final stage, and finishing work on the arrangement of protective structures has begun.
The new building is also expected to have alternative power sources to make the institution more resilient and ready to operate in case of emergency outages. These include a water and heat supply, a solar station, and a backup power supply.
The total construction cost is over UAH 1.3 billion. A separate project envisages the creation of a modular town of 10 houses on the territory of the medical facility. Each will be able to accommodate two people who will undergo treatment and rehabilitation at the hospital. The modular premises will include autonomous heating systems, a modern layout and decoration. They will also have a kitchen, living room, separate bedrooms with upholstered furniture and a bathroom, etc.
Such comfortable, affordable, and, most importantly, safe living conditions for patients will facilitate their quick rehabilitation and socialization after receiving treatment.
The modular buildings will be equipped with the needs of people with disabilities in mind: they will have doorways, ramps, and handrails to ensure easy maneuverability of patients. Security systems will have visual signals or vibration alerts, and sanitary facilities will be equipped with emergency alarms and warning systems to meet the needs of people with visual and hearing impairments, etc.
The construction of the new building will make it possible to create a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility with a barrier-free space. It will deploy stem cell laboratories to introduce new treatments, create additional jobs, and expand cooperation and exchange of experience with foreign specialists.
