Ukraine receives 10 specialized vehicles from UNDP with support from the EU and the governments of Canada and Denmark
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine, with support from the European Union (EU) and the governments of Canada and Denmark, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Policy, has donated 10 specialized vehicles. The vehicles will strengthen the capacity of local services to better respond to the needs of war-affected communities.
The vehicles will serve as mobile hubs that will work to strengthen social resilience and well-being at the local level, as well as help communities and their residents cope with the consequences of the war.
“Increasing the mobility of doctors means increasing the accessibility of medical services. The donated vehicles will be used to transport medical workers to the most remote and most affected communities of our country. This is a significant support for the Ukrainian healthcare system.”
“The ability to deliver social services where they are needed most is key to helping Ukrainian communities recover. With these specialized vehicles, we will be able to reach vulnerable populations more effectively, improving the social work system.”
The donated vehicles will be used to transport medical workers to the most remote areas of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson oblasts.
“The war has put enormous pressure on the healthcare and social services system, but through strategic cooperation with the Ukrainian government and our development partners, we can help reduce this burden. Specialized vehicles will enable medical and social services to reach even the most remote and vulnerable communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in Ukraine’s recovery process.”
Specialized vehicles will assist in such critical areas as palliative care, family doctor services, and psychosocial support.
“Through the EU4Recovery project, we are working closely with the Government of Ukraine to strengthen local institutions and provide direct support to war-affected communities. These vehicles are part of our broader efforts to empower communities by providing them with the tools they need for sustainable recovery.”
The donation of vehicles is of great importance in the growing workload in healthcare and social services due to the war, and additional transport will help overcome challenges such as staff shortages and lack of specialized services.
“Canada is proud to support the people of Ukraine in their recovery efforts. These mobile hubs will bring essential services closer to those who need them most, demonstrating our continued support for Ukraine in this difficult time.”
“Denmark’s support reflects our commitment to rebuilding Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, with a particular focus on Mykolaiv oblast. The donation of these vehicles is a step forward in ensuring that communities have access to essential services, enabling them to thrive once again.”
It should be recalled that the Ministry of Health recently received 175 off-road vehicles to improve access to medical care. In total, Ukraine has received 1244 vehicles as part of humanitarian aid, 73 of which are armored.
