Ukraine and the Republic of Korea continue to collaborate within international technical assistance framework
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine held a series of coordination meetings with representatives of international partners—the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Medipeace. The events were attended by Ihor Kuzin, Deputy Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health and the leadership of healthcare facilities engaged in the implementation of joint initiatives.
During the meetings, the parties discussed the implementation of ongoing international technical assistance projects and outlined further areas of collaboration.
In the course of the first week, participants discussed the progress and further phases of the project implementation to modernize the All-Ukrainian Medical and Rehabilitation Center “Tsybli.” In 2026, the completion of design work, implementation of construction works, and the continued professional development of Ukrainian rehabilitation specialists are planned.
This project involves a comprehensive upgrade of the infrastructure of one of the facility's buildings, the procurement of the latest medical equipment for the development of rehabilitation care, and the implementation of training programs for medical professionals and management teams.
The total budget for the project is USD 5 million, with completion scheduled by the end of 2027.
In the course of the second week, the parties agreed on the next steps for implementing the joint project to modernize the National Children's Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt.” The project includes a comprehensive renovation of the facade, the installation of barrier-free access solutions at the main entrance for people with reduced mobility, rehabilitation of the first and third floors, and the installation of state-of-the-art medical equipment. Additionally, a professional development program for staff in rehabilitation, radiology, and orthopedics is planned.
The development program will include training both in Ukraine and abroad, consulting support, on-the-job training, and specialized educational events featuring international experts. The project will be implemented in phases and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.
The implementation of these initiatives is part of a broader systemic cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea in healthcare, aimed at introducing advanced medical solutions, improving the quality of medical care, and strengthening the system's resilience in response to current challenges.
