The restoration of healthcare facilities damaged during the war continues

Ukraine's healthcare infrastructure has suffered significant damage due to russia's full-scale military aggression. As of January 1, 2026, information from the health departments of regional and Kyiv city military administrations confirms that 2,551 facilities across 817 healthcare institutions have been damaged or destroyed.

Specifically, as a result of enemy actions, 327 sites belonging to 125 healthcare institutions have been destroyed. The most severe damage has been recorded in healthcare facilities located in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions.

Despite daily threats and a challenging security situation, recovery efforts continue. Specifically, 703 facilities have been fully restored, while another 325 are undergoing partial restoration. Additionally, 65 facilities that had previously been restored were damaged due to renewed enemy attacks.

At the same time, healthcare services continue to be provided despite challenging conditions. Currently, full medical services are available at 1,546 facilities, 185 facilities operate on a partial basis, and 233 healthcare facilities have been relocated to alternative premises.

Data on facilities located in temporarily occupied territories remains limited due to the inability to verify the full extent of the damage.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 283 emergency medical vehicles have been destroyed, 171 have been damaged, and enemy forces have captured 80.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, in collaboration with international partners, continues to work systematically to restore damaged healthcare facilities and is taking all possible measures to ensure that every patient has access to necessary medical care, even under the most challenging circumstances.
