The Ministry of Health has launched the website of the Medevac program for the treatment of war-affected Ukrainians abroad
The Ministry of Health has launched the website of the Medevac project, a program aimed at helping Ukrainian military and civilians affected by the war. Medevac allows patients to receive high-quality treatment abroad, which is not always possible in Ukraine due to the complexity of injuries, the workload of hospitals, or the destruction of medical infrastructure by russia.
The website has become a centralized platform where patients and doctors can find all the necessary information about the medical evacuation program: the application procedure, patient selection criteria, a list of required documents, and transportation features.
“Thanks to international support, thousands of Ukrainians have received high-quality treatment in leading clinics in Europe. Now, on the Medevac website, even more people will be able to learn about all the details of the program, easily fill out an application and receive the necessary help as soon as possible.”
In total, more than 5,700 Ukrainians have been evacuated under the Medevac program since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Among them are civilians and soldiers who were injured as a result of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and need surgical treatment, prosthetics and/or rehabilitation, patients with cancer, and children with rare (orphan) diseases.
Ukrainians receive care in medical facilities in nearly 30 countries, including Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Sweden, Austria, Latvia, and others. Medical evacuation is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the European Commission and the WHO.
