The first memorandum on medical partnership between Ukrainian and Italian institutions is signed
The Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital and the Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence signed a memorandum of international medical partnership. This is the first memorandum with the Italian side that was signed under the organization and coordination of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Thanks to the assistance and financial support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the first visit of Ukrainian doctors to a foreign clinic was made possible. Thus, our doctors can undergo a three-week internship at the Meyer Children’s Hospital, adopt best practices and implement new methods of treatment and improve approaches to pediatric care. The main goal of the cooperation is to improve the quality of medical services for patients and develop the professional skills of doctors.
As part of the cooperation between the two countries, four Ukrainian doctors - a neonatal surgeon, a general surgeon, a combustiologist and a pediatric oncohematologist - will visit the Meyer Hospital in Florence to learn about advanced Italian methods of treatment and care for children.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine expresses its gratitude to the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation for their active support and assistance in concluding this partnership. The International Medical Partnership Program is a vivid example of how international cooperation contributes to the exchange of knowledge and the improvement of medical services. Cooperation and study of best practices by Ukrainian doctors, despite the difficult times, will allow us to provide the most modern and effective care to those in need.
For reference: the development of international medical partnership is an initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, which was launched during the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen in Kyiv on 6 September 2023. By strengthening international medical partnerships, Ukrainian medics can exchange experience with their foreign colleagues, and the medical field can develop at all levels. In the future, the experience gained will be implemented in the best practices of providing medical care to Ukrainian patients. To date, 55 medical partnerships have been concluded between Ukrainian and foreign institutions.
