The first meeting of the Okhmatdyt Restoration Council was held
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine hosted the first meeting of the Council for Monitoring the Restoration of Destroyed (Damaged) Buildings of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the Restoration Council), consisting of eight members selected at the first stage. These are representatives of benefactors who have made the largest donations, international technical assistance projects, diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Ukraine, international and intergovernmental organizations and foundations, as well as one representative each from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt”. The meeting was also attended by Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine, and Mykhailo Leshchenko, representative of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, as observers.
“Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, business representatives, and foreign countries have united to restore the work of Okhmatdyt after the terrorist attack. Their involvement in the reconstruction process is a factor that will promote transparency and honesty. That is why we initiated the creation of the Restoration Council. I am grateful to each of those who have already joined its work. Your expertise and support are very important. We understand that the autumn and winter period is approaching, so we will do everything possible to ensure that the modern hospital building is operating at full capacity as soon as possible. At the same time, we realize how important it is to maintain full transparency of all processes. We are interested in this. Together we will ensure this.”
During the meeting, the participants discussed the primary goals and objectives of the Restoration Council, as well as the details of the procedure for selecting seven representatives of public associations, their unions, charitable organizations working in the areas of corruption prevention, patient protection, healthcare development, professional associations of healthcare workers, or in the field of architecture and urban planning, who will also be part of the council.
“I will be very pleased to take part in the work of the Okhmatdyt Restoration Council. Our company is a major donor to this extremely important project, for which we have donated UAH 10 million. It's good that representatives of international organizations, diplomats, and public organizations have been invited to participate. This composition, in my opinion, will ensure competitiveness and transparency of the work on restoring the largest children’s hospital. NPC Ukrenergo is the only company in Ukraine that holds a CIPS certificate in international procurement. We have the experience and necessary competencies to carry out these processes. And we will be happy to join the control over the transparency and efficiency of the use of donor funds.”
Members of the public who wish to join the Restoration Council and meet the criteria specified in the Regulations on the Council for Monitoring the Restoration of Destroyed (Damaged) Buildings of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine should fill out and send the form at the link no later than August 14, 2024 (inclusive).
After that, at the next meeting, the already approved members of the board will review the applications and select the participants by rating voting.
