# The First 13 Armoured Vehicles for Military Medics, Purchased with Donations Raised Through UNITED24, Have Arrived in Ukraine

The first batch of 13 armoured medical evacuation vehicles has arrived in Ukraine. The vehicles were procured by the Medical Procurement of Ukraine on behalf of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine using funds raised through UNITED24. These vehicles are intended for evacuating wounded personnel from high-risk areas where the use of conventional ambulances could endanger both patients and medical teams.

The vehicles are equipped with NATO STANAG 4569 Level 2 armour protection, enabling them to withstand mine blasts, artillery shell fragments, and armour-piercing incendiary ammunition. Additional protection is provided by an overlapping door-seam design that helps prevent bullets from penetrating the cabin through door joints.

Inside, the vehicles feature a dedicated medical compartment accommodating two medical personnel and up to three patients, including those transported on stretchers. The interior allows for the installation of essential medical equipment, enabling lifesaving care during evacuation.

The armoured vehicles are also equipped with four-wheel drive, a diesel engine, and a driving range of up to 600 kilometres. These capabilities allow them to operate in hard-to-reach areas, navigate challenging off-road terrain, and carry out long-distance evacuation missions.

To ensure safe operation during evacuations, each vehicle is additionally fitted with a night vision system, a 360-degree surround-view camera system with a monitor, an intercom connecting the driver's cabin and the medical compartment, armoured windows, run-flat tyres that allow the vehicle to continue operating after sustaining damage or losing tyre pressure, and mounting points for a Starlink satellite communication system or equivalent solutions. The interior also includes fixtures for installing medical equipment required to provide care during evacuation.

Strengthening the medical evacuation system remains one of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine's key priorities.

Background

In total, 30 armoured medical evacuation vehicles were procured through UNITED24 in 2025. Thirteen of them have already been delivered to Ukraine and transferred to military medics.

This is not the first procurement of armoured medical evacuation vehicles. In 2022, another 13 such vehicles were purchased with funds raised through UNITED24. They were transferred to military medics in 2023 and have since been used to evacuate wounded personnel from combat zones where the use of conventional ambulances poses significant risks.
