Prosthetics and rehabilitation: a modern micro-clinic opened in Poltava
A modern prosthetics and rehabilitation micro-clinic has opened in Poltava, based at the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M. V. Sklifosovskyi. This is the second micro-clinic of its kind in Ukraine. It will offer state-of-the-art prosthetics and rehabilitation services to people with amputations, including both military personnel and civilian patients.
The project is being implemented as part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Government of France, and Resilience Orthopedics SAS under the initiative Improving Care for Amputees through Establishing a Network of Micro-Clinics and Centers. Its objective is to establish a modern network of prosthetic micro-clinics and a production center in Ukraine to strengthen national rehabilitation capabilities.
Currently, renovation works in Poltava have been completed, and modern equipment has been delivered and installed. The micro-clinic includes a workshop for prosthetists and a separate patient room. A fully digitalized approach to prosthetics will be implemented, replacing traditional plaster molds with 3D measurements. Digital data will be transferred to the production center in Lviv for manufacturing, with prostheses subsequently returned to Poltava for individual fitting and patient training. The patient room is equipped with 3D scanners, a mirror system for monitoring posture and movements, rehabilitation trainers, and other equipment necessary for selection, fitting, and training. The micro-clinic will employ technicians and prosthetists who have undergone specialized training with leading French specialists, ensuring compliance with European standards.
In September, a training and production center for prosthetics, along with a prosthetic micro-clinic, began operating at Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University. Following the launch in Poltava, a similar facility in the Kyiv oblast (region) is expected to open soon.
The establishment of the Poltava micro-clinic marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the Ministry of Health's flagship project, “Development of the Rehabilitation Care System.” This initiative is part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine, launched by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
The initiative of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine promotes the principle “Barrier-free means being able to complete the rehabilitation process without obstacles.” This aligns with the core principles of the nationwide social change campaign “Barrier-free Means When You Can,” which aims to promote barrier-free access and engage people in creating a barrierless country.
