Medical facilities have about 12,000 generators for uninterrupted operation

For almost three years of full-scale war, russia has been systematically and deliberately attacking Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including healthcare facilities. Despite this, Ukrainian hospitals are being reinforced to ensure that they are ready for the heating season and continue to operate smoothly even in the face of possible power outages.

Thus, the facilities are equipped with alternative power sources, including generators, Starlink stations, wells, autonomous boilers, etc.

Today, Ukrainian hospitals have about 12 thousand (11,820) generators for uninterrupted power supply. Almost 4,000 generators of various capacities (3,650) were delivered to medical facilities during the full-scale war with the assistance of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The equipment came from various international partners, benefactors, and was purchased at the expense of the UNITED24 platform, etc.

This equipment will operate in the event of an emergency power outage and supply voltage to the grid. The generators will power operating rooms, intensive care units, oxygen stations and other critical equipment that will save patients’ lives. To ensure stable operation, the management of each medical facility must check the operability of such equipment and resolve the issue of its uninterrupted fuel supply.

Another part of the hospitals is equipped with Starlink satellite Internet stations - 1185 such stations have already been installed in medical facilities. Doctors will be able to stay in touch even in the event of a power outage or mobile network interruption.

The hospitals also have their own wells and autonomous boilers, making them even more resilient to possible blackouts. 962 medical facilities have a separate well, which will provide uninterrupted access to water and help maintain compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards.

As for the healthcare facilities of the capable network, 309 out of 636 are fully autonomous in terms of boilers, wells and generators.

564 healthcare facilities in the capable network are provided with a backup heat source and 370 have their own wells. The provision of hospitals in the capable network with generators is 100%. Every hospital has power equipment.

In addition, about 100 Ukrainian healthcare facilities have solar stations, most of which are equipped with batteries that accumulate energy. They were installed at the expense of various programs, charitable foundations, foreign governments, etc.

The state will continue to work to strengthen and provide Ukrainian hospitals with power equipment so that, despite the challenges and consequences of the war, they are prepared and able to work effectively under any conditions.
