Maksym Stepanov: Among the changes to health care reform will be the adjustment of the coefficient for complexity - so that tariffs for services are fair.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is introducing and adjusting the coefficients of tariffs for medical services.  Changes are needed to establish fair and reasonable tariffs. They must provide a decent level of payment for medical workers, as well as quality services for patients.

The Minister of Health of Ukraine said this at a meeting with UN Representative in Ukraine, Osnat Lubrani.

“We are providing changes to health care reform. Of course, there are principles we will not abandon. For example, NHSU fundings. In this case, payment for the treatment must be fair and understandable. It is very important to cover services costs and to have appropriate ratios to the complexity of a case,”- said, Maksym Stepanov.

According to the Minister, the new management of the Ministry of Health is set up for maximum openness and transparency of their work.  At the same time, key attention is also paid to the optimization of processes.  One of the priorities of the Ministry is the development and implementation of electronic systems, including eHealth.

Also, the Minister thanked the UN representatives for supporting Ukraine in the fight against coronavirus and in implementing medical reform. The parties expressed readiness to continue cooperation in order to apply the best world experience in the medicine field in Ukraine.

“Ukraine is very important for the UN and we see an effective fight with COVID-19.   We are interested in cooperation and your openness is very important to us,”- said UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine and Humanitarian Coordinator, Osnat Lubrani.

We’d like to remind that earlier the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Maksym Stepanov, announced changes to the medical reform in Ukraine aimed to correct the planning mistakes made by his predecessors.
