Head has registered National Health Service of Ukraine
Kyiv, Ukraine - March 30, 2018 - Today, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has registered the National Health Service of Ukraine as the central executive agency. Oleh Petrenko was appointed Head of the NHS of Ukraine at the Government meeting on March 28, 2018.
The next steps include creation of the NHSU structure, recruitment and selection of the qualified team, as well as the preparation for contracting with healthcare facilities and institutions. This should be done before June, 2018, as it is when start of contracting with primary care facilities is scheduled.
As we have noted before, the National Health Service of Ukraine is the national insurer and main healthcare reform operating agency promoting and implementing the key principle of the new health care financing mechanism – "money follows the patient" – in practice. The state will allocate money for the specific needs of a patient instead of financing hospitals, doctors, or inpatient beds. Equally important, the NHSU will protect the right of the Ukrainian citizens to access to quality healthcare and the right of doctors to earn decent salaries.
The National Health Service of Ukraine was established on December 28, 2017.
