Group of Psychiatric and Neurological Hospitals of Paris (France) and Ternopil Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital (Ukraine)
A Memorandum of Understanding between the institutions was signed during the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen in September 2023.
The partnership is being implemented through internships for Ukrainian specialists in France and reciprocal missions of French experts to Ukraine.
Key areas of cooperation:
Internships for Ukrainian specialists in France:
- The internship program covers a broad spectrum of medical services, including both informational-communicative and practical components.
- The head of the neurosurgery department participated in 15 surgical interventions, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment such as the Da Vinci robotic surgical system.
- Ukrainian neurosurgeons successfully performed brain tumor removal using intraoperative neuromonitoring.
Evaluation of Stroke Center operations:
- Ukrainian experts had the opportunity to assess the functioning of a French stroke unit and to discuss priorities in the treatment of patients with acute cerebrovascular accidents.
Participation in events and international conferences:
- A delegation from the Ternopil hospital took part in an international conference in Paris titled "Art and its Benefits in Mental Health and Psychiatry", where the Ukrainian Medical Director presented on the use of art therapy.
Visit of the French delegation to Ukraine:
- From October 2 to 9, 2024, a French delegation visited Ternopil, where they became acquainted with the hospital's structure and held lectures and training sessions for the medical staff.
Mindfulness method training:
- French psychologists conducted training sessions on the mindfulness method, introducing Ukrainian staff to its core principles and expected therapeutic outcomes.
This collaboration promotes knowledge exchange, the adoption of innovative treatment methodologies, and the improvement of healthcare quality in Ukraine.
