Experts from Ukraine and WHO will jointly strengthen the country’s ability to effectively respond to public health challenges
Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Iryna Mykychak presented the World Health Organization’s Joint External Evaluation mission experts an overview of the national health sector, a program of services and a public health safety system as a basis for strengthening the well-being of the population.
“We are interested in obtaining a competent, expert and independent assessment of Ukraine's compliance with international health regulations. This is important, because the public health system is the foundation for ensuring the quality of life of our citizens. Only by combining the peculiarities of the national healthcare sector and international standards can we achieve high results in the development of the medical system of Ukraine”, said Deputy Health Minister Iryna Mykychak.
In total, more than 30 different ministries and institutions were involved in cooperation, which assessed the country’s readiness for new challenges in the public health sector. Currently, the joint external assessment team consists of 19 international experts from Israel, Switzerland, Great Britain, Spain, etc.
The activities of experts allow analyzing the possibilities of developing the country in accordance with international standards and prospects for the development of the national health care sector.
The recommendations of the Joint External Evaluation mission experts will be essential for creating a sustainable public health care system, especially during the period of countering the COVID-19 pandemic.
