Communities in six regions of Ukraine received ten mobile clinics with the support of the German government
Communities in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Mykolaiv and Odesa oblasts received 10 mobile clinics. This will provide about 300,000 community residents with access to essential medical services. The mobile clinics were purchased by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Special Assistance Programme Ukraine (EU4ResilientRegions) with funding from the German government.
It should be noted that due to russia’s systematic attacks and the challenges caused by the full-scale war, the provision of medical care in some areas has been significantly hampered. Mobile clinics, on the other hand, help to improve patients’ access to the necessary primary health care in the regions.
Mobile clinics are equipped outpatient clinics on wheels that can reach patients wherever they are. They are designed and manufactured to meet the needs of medical institutions and comply with European medical and safety standards.
Each mobile clinic is provided with the necessary medical equipment, air conditioning and ventilation system for clinical premises, heater, water tanks, generator and batteries for backup power to ensure uninterrupted operation in the face of russian systemic attacks and power outages. It is also worth noting that the building’s space is arranged in such a way as to provide access to the clinic for people with disabilities.
The mobile teams will provide a full range of services of the stationary primary health care center, such as general consultation, diagnosis, treatment, laboratory services, ultrasound, vaccination, maternal and child care, ophthalmology, ECG, etc.
The largest patients’ association, the CF “Patients of Ukraine”, provided advisory support for the implementation of the mobile medical services model in communities: from analyzing the needs, healthcare status and related factors in communities to developing roadmaps for mobile teams, conducting management, clinical and technical trainings for healthcare teams.
Education and clinical training for mobile teams from host communities is partially funded by the European Union.
For reference: On behalf of the German government, the EU and other donors, GIZ supports Ukraine on its recovery path. Currently, the focus is on building municipal and social infrastructure, securing reliable energy supply and strengthening the Ukrainian economy. Long-term cooperation and a network of partners in all regions of the country allows to provide support to Ukraine in accordance with its current needs.
