887 medical facilities restored in Ukraine during the full-scale war
Every day, russia attacks Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including medical infrastructure, and deliberately attacks peaceful cities, and terrorizes citizens. The enemy is systematically destroying hospitals, clinics, outpatient clinics, and maternity wards, putting an additional burden on the medical system.
Nevertheless, the restoration of medical infrastructure is a priority for the government. Reconstruction work has been going on for over two and a half years to ensure that Ukrainians have unimpeded access to the quality medical care they need. Thus, 887 medical facilities have been fully or partially restored in different oblasts of Ukraine. Of these, 537 facilities have been fully restored and another 350 partially restored. These are medical facilities in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that have suffered minor damage: broken windows, roofing, facade damage, etc. Most of the facilities have been restored in Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv oblasts.
During the full-scale war, the enemy damaged 1673 medical facilities and destroyed another 223 of them completely. Hospitals in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts suffered the greatest losses. It is currently impossible to obtain comprehensive information on the extent of the destruction of hospitals in the temporarily occupied territories. In addition, since the beginning of the war, russia has damaged 226 ambulances, destroyed 263 and seized 125 ambulances.
It should be recalled that the modular primary care clinics have recently been set up in the affected districts of Kharkiv and Chernihiv oblasts as part of a partnership between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the World Health Organization.
