Ukrainian hospitals will be equipped with solar panels

Ukrainian hospitals will be equipped with solar panels. The Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Energy, is launching a project to install solar panels in healthcare facilities. The Ray of Hope Project will be implemented at the expense of international partners and will allow Ukrainian hospitals to remain more resilient in the face of russian energy terrorism.

According to the Minister of Health, now the Ministry of Health together with the Ministry of Energy determine the list of objects where solar panels will be installed. Priority will be given to those regions that were most vulnerable to power outages or affected by military operations.

“This year, the medical system went through a super heavy winter, in some areas the enemy repeatedly tried to plunge our hospitals into cold and darkness, endangering the lives of patients, because it very often directly depends on the energy supply in hospitals. The availability of such solar panels is another step towards making our hospitals energy independent and ensuring uninterrupted provision of medical services,” Viktor Liashko said during the meeting.

According to the minister of health, during the installation of solar panels, a significant modernization of the medical institution will also take place. Each such solar power plant will allow hospitals to save up to 70% of energy costs and help partially ensure the operation of the medical facility during emergency shutdowns. Also, solar power plants will be supplemented with energy storage units that will provide energy supply to hospitals for at least 4 hours.

A pilot project to install solar panels has already been implemented in an outpatient clinic in the village of Horenka, Kyiv oblast. Solar panels with a capacity of 12 kW cover up to 60% of the medical institution’s electricity needs.
