The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced the allocation of USD 17 million to Ukraine to restore the public health system
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the allocation of an additional USD 17 million to finance the restoration of the public health system in Ukraine. This was announced during a working meeting between Health Minister Viktor Liashko and chief state sanitary doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin with representatives of the CDC in Washington.
“Of these USD 17 million, USD 5.3 million will be used to prevent, detect, and respond to antimicrobial resistance, USD 7.7 million to strengthen surveillance systems and laboratory capabilities, USD 2.6 million to strengthen public health emergency management, and USD 1.2 million to improve data modernization systems. Part of the funds will be used for further support and development of a training course on field epidemiology for Ukrainian specialists, which will have a positive impact on the safety of public health in Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for standing side by side in this difficult time for the Ukrainian people and supporting the medical system and the public health system in Ukraine,” the minister said.
During the meeting they discussed countering the challenges that arose as a result of the full-scale invasion of the rf in Ukraine, in particular, key areas of support for the healthcare system with CDC resources were identified.
The meeting was held within the framework of a working visit of Health Minister Viktor Liashko and chief sanitary doctor Ihor Kuzin to the United States in order to deepen cooperation and establish cooperation with American partners.
