The Ministry of Health will purchase expensive equipment - MRI and linear accelerators - at the expense of the state budget
The Ministry of Health received the right to purchase expensive equipment, in particular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and linear accelerators, at the expense of the state budget.
The government has amended the list of medicines, medical devices, and auxiliary means that are purchased in compliance with agreements (contracts) concluded by a person authorized to carry out procurement in the field of healthcare for the completion of programs and implementation of centralized healthcare measures.
According to the Minister of Health, this is another step in improving the quality of medical care and diagnostics for Ukrainian patients.
“We already clearly understand that a full-scale war will have negative consequences for people's health in the future. And we are already preparing for this. Unfortunately, the issue of screening and preventive examinations is not a priority for Ukrainians yet. Prior to that, the coronavirus pandemic continued for two years, which also restricted access to regular medical examinations. As a result, we potentially expect an increase in the number of diseases with advanced stages of development. This is especially true for oncology and diseases of the cardiovascular system. It is important for us that hospitals are provided with everything necessary and the patient is guaranteed to receive high-quality, affordable and free medical care. The resolution adopted today will allow us to centrally purchase linear accelerators and magnetic resonance imaging systems, that is, to ensure the availability of this modern expensive equipment in those medical institutions that need it,” Viktor Liashko said.
In 2023, 642,942,000 hryvnias are provided for the purchase of expensive equipment under the program “Providing medical measures for individual state programs and complex measures of a programmatic nature”. In addition, this year development expenditures are also provided for the general fund of the state budget in the amount of 1,650,000,000 hryvnias.
The funds will primarily be used to purchase expensive medical equipment for medical institutions that provide medical care to military personnel and cancer patients.
