Presentation of the USAID project “Sustainable Development of National Health Systems” was held
Minister of Health Viktor Liashko at the weekly staff meeting of the Ministry of Health listened to Vitalii Karanda, head of the project “Sustainable Development of National Health Systems”, implemented by Abt Associates with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The project is USAID’s flagship initiative to strengthen integrated healthcare systems. Its goal is to help countries achieve sustainable self-funded health systems that ensure quality, accessibility, and free health care. The project is being implemented in 28 countries around the world.
“The project supports the development of telemedicine in Ukraine. The project implementation period is three years: from October 2021 to August 2024. The project focuses on strengthening management, improving policies, legislation and funding in the field of telemedicine, restoring the availability of basic services through telemedicine, as well as strengthening the Ministry's ability to respond to war related challenges,” said Vitalii Koranda, project manager.
In addition, the project team provides technical support for the implementation of telemedicine platforms provided by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine from individuals and legal entities, residents, and non-residents as charitable or humanitarian assistance to meet health needs under martial law in Ukraine and during the recovery period after it. Now, due to the efforts of the LHSS project team, a number of telemedicine projects have already been implemented and are successfully operating, which provide teleconsultation and medical care for the most vulnerable groups of the population.
It should be recalled that the Healthlink project will restore primary medical care in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
